Not necessarily. When you purchase a license, you are entitled to free minor updates of the software. In other words, if you purchase a license for GIS.NET 2.0, you are entitled to upgrade to versions 2.1 through 2.99 at no charge.
I am currently using GIS.NET 1.0. How much does it cost to upgrade to version 2.0?
Absolutely nothing! GIS.NET 2.0 was given to all GIS.NET 1.0 customers as a free upgrade. You can
log into your account to retrieve license keys for GIS.NET 2.0.
Is a separate license required to use a GPS.NET plug-in?
Yes. If you use either the GPS Control Toolbox or the Garmin Protocols Plug-In, you will need to purchase a separate license. We separate the plug-ins in order to keep the cost of GPS.NET lower.
I need to port my application from one .NET platform to another. Do I have to buy another license?
Not necessarily. If you bought a license for Visual Studio 2005, this license covers you for both Desktop Framework 2.0 as well as Compact Framework 2.0. You would only need to purchase a license if a different version of Visual Studio is required to port your appliocation. For example, if you were porting your application from Compact Framework 1.0 to Compact Framework 2.0, you would need an additional license since you would be moving to Visual Studio 2005.
