Jon Person, President and Senior Architect
Jon is the chief architect and founder of GeoFrameworks. His talent with a wide variety of computer skills is the thrust of this web site. Primarily, Jon's
programming expertise resolves around intuitive frameworks. Coming from a long line of school teachers and college professors, Jon has an innate ability to
present information in a way that is easy to grasp by people of differing skill levels. This approach resonates in the architecture of GeoFrameworks components,
minimal yet powerful and versatile in their design.
Jon became quickly fascinated with the .NET Framework because of how much it simplified software development. "My favorite thing about the .NET Framework
is its elegant design. Developers not only find themselves writing less total code with .NET, but they also find themselves becoming better programmers by
being forced to follow specific structures. It was an exciting challenge to make GPS.NET feel like a natural extension of the .NET Framework, and this is exactly
what developers now experience."
As the son of a business professor, Jon found himself with a desire to teach others. "Writing components and articles are my favorite projects
to work on. GPS is everywhere now, and it's exciting to be a part of the foundation upon which so many innovative systems are built. I don't have nearly
enough time to do everything I want to do, so why not write a component and be a part of hundreds of projects at once?" says Jon. He has written
articles for CodeProject about how to write GPS applications using .NET, both of which were so well-received that they are now in CodeProject's Top 10 Articles (out of over 15,000 articles).
Jon works primarily from his office in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. In the springtime, Jon enjoys venturing out into the Great Plains to witness thunderstorms and
sometimes even a tornado or two. At home, Jon enjoys driving his car around the mountains of Colorado and biking along the Bear Creek Bike Trail near his home. At work,
Jon enjoys listening to an "ambient techno" music station in Germany called HBR1 while he works. Jon enjoys getting to know all GPS developers, beyond just a business
association. "I want to hear about the exiting things are doing with GPS and GIS today. It excites me more to do my part even more."
